User case studies track

This track is a thought experiment into how an XML-IR search engine will be used. Participants are asked to forget, just for a moment, the (invaluable) INEX document collections and relevance judgments, and to hypothesize how XML-IR might be used. We hypothesize a user: Who are they? Why might they prefer this technology over other technologies? What is the work-task our user has? How do they interact with elements? What kind of documents are they searching? What constitutes relevance? Participants will be asked to hold local round-table discussions amongst themselves and with potential users, to participate in email discussions, and to present their findings in written form. At the conclusion of this track we hope to have a better picture of who the users are, and how they might use XML-IR.
